Today's blog will be about a technology tool that is new to me! Plicker is a free tool for educators to assess their class quickly. It does take some work on the front hand because you will have to print out enough cards for every student to use. I teach fourth grade which means I have about 28 students in each of my two classes. Plickers will let you set up cards to match each student. You can use this as a grade or a formative assessment and my favorite thing is that student's can't look around and make a guess based on other peoples answer cards. You can watch a short tutorial on how to use Plickers and then get started! If you choose to use this tool you will want to consult your schools Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP). The app does not require students to have their own technology but it does require the teacher to use a tablet or smartphone. Many schools have policies about what teacher's can and cannot do with their personal smartphone during school
